Screen is black

I have a MacBook Pro 2020. I was doing my homework and then what appears to be a hair line crack by the camera and red line going down the middle and then while I was working on my paper my screen went black. I know my computer was on because my caps lock key was green showing it was on but I have ABSOLUTELY no screen. I turned my computer off and back on and I hear it start up but no screen still. I’m super careful with my computer and always have it in its case and in my computer bag when it’s not being used

Troubleshooting a Black Screen:

Mirror the Screen to an External Display:

Performing the following will mirror the Home Screen, and allow you to use it as if it were your Mac's screen.

  • Without Touchbar: Hold Down [command + F1]
  • With Touchbar: Hold Down: [command + dull screen]

Troubleshooting MacBook Air Power:

A. Black Mac Screen:

Go Here: If your Mac doesn't Turn On or Start Up - Apple Support

Using External Devices: Try Resetting the SMC and NVRAM, but this time, using an external keyboard. Connect an external monitor and see if you get an output.

B. Mac Power Issues:

Try a New Charger:

If it is currently charging from a charger, then use a new charger:

"This might be a dumb question, but I’m experimenting with the same issue right now, except I haven’t seen a hairline crack in mine, which makes me feel like I should look real good again, but what is the “Dull Screen” ? Is that just the blank screen + the command key (I have the touchbar) thanks for the advice."

There's nothing dumb about your question.

Where to Find "Dull Screen":

It is the button on the Touch Bar located atop the middle of the 2 and the 3. It is all the way to the left on the touch bar. If you do not see it, click the "<" symbol on the far right to reveal it.
