What versions of Mac OS X / macOS a Mac laptop can run will depend on its hardware model and model year. This information can be found in the About This Mac dialog in the Apple () menu.

Most Mac laptops that can run Yosemite cannot run current versions of the Mac operating system. Some vendors like Microsoft and Adobe have a policy of only supporting the most recent three major versions of macOS. When Apple releases Sonoma - which they have said they will do this fall – those will be Sonoma (14), Ventura (13), and Monterey (12).

Scanning the listings in MacTracker, I see only a few laptops which can run both Yosemite and Monterey.

  • MacBook Air (11-inch, Early 2015)
  • MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015)
  • MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)
  • MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)

These are the newest laptops which match your description ("running on OS Yosemite"). They can't run Ventura – the current version of macOS; and they won't be able to run Sonoma - the "any time now" version.

While Apple has not announced when Sonoma's successor will come out, history suggests that it will be sometime late in 2024. So Monterey has about a year left during which it will be one of the most recent three. After that, you will probably see Microsoft and Adobe drop support for it as if it were a hot potato. (Some other software vendors might support it for longer; this is one of those things that varies from vendor to vendor.)
