This article says to check the iCloud status. How do you change the status from offline to online?

When I start Mail, I go into preferences for iCloud. It checks the status of iCloud for about 8 minutes and then finally says it is Offline. How do I change the status? I have tried changing the server settings to another online email service. I have changed my Apple ID password. And I have tested the other email service both within mail.app and on the mail servers website. Everything works but iCloud.

If your email account is showing offline, you can follow the steps below get the account back online. These steps and more can be found in If a mailbox is offline in Mail on Mac - Apple Support.

In the Mail app on your Mac, do one of the following:

* Take all accounts online: Click the lightning bolt icon or choose Mailbox > Take All Accounts Online.

* Take a specific account online (if you have more than one account): Click the lightning bolt icon next to the account’s mailbox, or choose Mailbox > Online Status > Take [account] Online.
