Error writing to file

Error writing to file. This is the message I get sometimes while trying to export a sequence from Final Cut pro to XD CAM. What exactly does it mean?

Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Read page 16 and on from this pdf:

to make sure you are doing everything correctly and have not missed a step.

Thanks I have read through that previously and am sure I'm following the steps properly. The strange thing is that sometimes it exports but sometimes it doesn't. I'm not sure if this is due to the length of the sequence I'm exporting which are no longer than 20 mins.
