Hello randilp1,

Thanks for choosing the Apple Support Communities. We see you aren't recieving emails from yourself, on your Mac. We have a few steps that may help. Follow them below.

If you can’t receive emails in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

  • "Check whether Mail is retrieving a large message or a message with large attachments. See View Mail activity.
  • Check if you’re using filters in the message list that are preventing expected messages from being shown.
  • Try sorting messages in the message list by Date or another attribute, or searching for messages, to verify if you received them.
  • Check whether your account is offline or disabled (inactive).
  • If you’re missing emails from a specific person or group, check whether you blocked messages from them.
  • Try quitting Mail, then opening it again.
  • Choose Window > Connection Doctor, then follow any instructions in the Details column. Check for problems logging in to email accounts or with the incoming Mail server, or with firewall software blocking network traffic.
  • Check whether you’re affected by another firewall, such as software installed separately from macOS or built into an internet sharing router, or administered by your email account provider. Contact the appropriate person for information.
  • If you’re still having problems, contact your email account provider to verify your user name, password, incoming mail server, and other required information. Then verify the information is entered correctly in Mail account settings."

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

I spoke to someone in tech support with apple, went thru many different steps. then it was raised to a higher level and we continued with different steps. we were screen sharing during all of this. then the second person recorded the steps I was taking and had me send the recording to them. tech support is trying to figure it out. crazy! happened suddenly. I cannot send emails from my Mac thru mac mail. I can from my iCloud account, from my web gmail account and from my iPhone. very strange.

note—

*If you use a non-iCloud SMTP server, don't use your iCloud email address as a "Send From" address. Otherwise, your email might not deliver or it might deliver to the recipient's Junk folder.”

hello, thank you for trying to help. I did all of the above that applies to me, restarted my computer, sent myself an email and it showed up in sent, then my inbox. tried another, did not show up in sent or inbox. very strange! I also noticed that if I reply to an email it works, if I forward an email it works. this is crazy bizarre!

Hi randilp1,

I was wondering if you found a solution yet. I have the same problem with my new Mac book pro. Emails send to myself (trough gmail) arrive just fine when send from my iPhone or iPad. However, when send from my Mac book they very briefly arrive on my iPhone and iPad and then disappear from those inboxes again (They are not moved / filtered and the email does not show up in the send items folder on these devices. However, on the Mac book, the emails show up and remain in the inbox just fine, when sending the email to multiple recipients the same happens, but the email is received by other recipients just fine.

Thank you in advance for any insights you may have!
