Solution: how to pair JBL Flip 4 with MacBook Pro: JBL Flip 4 not available as an audio output even though it is connected via bluetooth
Was driving me crazy that I couldn't connect my JBL Flip 4 to my Macbook Pro (Monterey). Bluetooth was connected and selected BUT no sound would come out of the Flip 4 Speaker. After scouring a million "solutions" trying everything under the moon, I found the solution (at least for me).
First:
* Make sure Bluetooth is connected to the Flip 4
* Open Sound Preferences in System Preferences to make sure it does NOT have the JBL Flip 4 as an output option
Then:
* Select GO in the Apple Menu Bar
* Select Go to Folder…
* Then type in: “/Users/kathu/Library/Preferences/ByHost”
* Look for file or files that start with “com.apple.bluetooth…” then a bunch of numbers and .plist. I had 4 files including a locked one and just deleted them all.
* Restart your computer.
* Restart your Flip 4.
Next:
* Make sure Bluetooth is connected to Flip 4
* Then Open Sound Preferences and you should see the Flip 4 as an output option.
* Select it and it WORKS!!
(NB: I found this solution from a brilliant poster here on these forums, but can’t find the thread anymore… so thanks to that guy. He said “you’re welcome” at the end of his post and I thank him sooo much. The guy is a genius!)
You're welcome.
