Configuration Profile - Disable/Restrict "Change Computer Name" on macOS via MDM

Hi all,

I am using macOS Server to deploy for my client's device.

I would like to restrict user permission to change Computer Name, I saw some guidelines that create a Profile (mobileconfig) to disable/restrict it.

Could you help me with this or provide the .mobileconfig file or similar file?

hostname and/or Computername not persistent Mac Mini M1 macOS Ventura 13.2.1 hostname and Computername are set to e.g. "mainframe", but it changes in Terminal to "Mac-mini" (which is the Model-Name). Why is this so? How can user make the chose name persistent? I set the name in System Settings > General > About > Name, in System Settings > Sharing > Local hostname where it is displayed correctly. When setting the name, it is also displayed in Terminal (I also set it via console using "hostname mainframe"). But shortly after, it changes to "Mac-mini"... Is this a bug or a feature? 😉 P.S. this is not a DNS issue - none of the local Domain Name Servers know the Mini's IP or its hostname.

where do I change the name of my computer in FindMy app In FindMy, this computer, my Mac mini shows a name that I can't find anywhere. Where is that name set? How do I change it? It's not the same name that under Settings-->Sharing-->Local hostname.

Need Assistance with Removing MDM Profile and DEP Enrollment Hello Apple Support Community, I have recently received a MacBook that is currently enrolled in the Device Enrollment Program (DEP) and is managed through an MDM profile by Idaho National Laboratory. However, I have no affiliation with this organization and am having difficulties removing the MDM profile from my device. Here are the details: MacBook is enrolled in DEP and managed by MDM. The MDM server is managed by Idaho National Laboratory. I do not have access to the organization that set up the MDM profile, and they are not responding to my requests for assistance. I would like to regain full administrative control over my MacBook, as the MDM profiles are currently restricting certain functionalities. Is there any way to remove the device from DEP and disable the MDM profile without the involvement of the original managing organization? Any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
