Where are images used in Photos stored?

I am creating a slideshow using Photos.

There were corrections made to the images after starting the slideshow.

Photos was also rearranging the image order if I changed the theme.

I read that if the images are numbered beforehand, the order would not change when changing themes.

So I took all the images into a folder, numbering them, and tweaking them some more.

This is really the first time using Photos for something like this.....

So now I am trying to create a new slideshow with these new images, but they won't import!

I have around 250 image, and only 18 are seen as 'new' images!!

I have tried all that I know of, maybe doing something I shouldn't have!!

I have deleted a Photos folder with the projects name, thinking that might be the cause, but that did not help.

I have run out of ideas on how to import the images I want in the slideshow.

The current version of Photos cannot sort the photos by the filenames, only by the titles. So it does not help to modify the filenames and reimport the photos. You would have to copy the filenames of the photos to the titles to sort the photos by your running numbers you assigned. But you can only sort the photos automatically in an album, not in a slideshow. A slideshow will be automatically sorted by the date you added the photos to the slideshow. It helps to add the photos individually, exactly in the order you want them to appear. But that will still not keep Photos from rearranging the photos to match the placeholders on slides with several photos.

To be able to reimport the photos with modified filenames delete the previous versions completely from Photos, also from the Recently Deleted album, before you try to reimport them.

I am creating a slideshow for a wedding where I want pictures in chronological order.

Some images where scanned from prints, others taken digitally.

Is the ONLY way to do that is manual placement?

With about 250 images, this is quite a task!

It wouldn't be so bad except I don't see a way to save what I have arranged, and it seems that every time I close the application & restart the application later, the images have been rearranged again!!

Since the physical sizes of the images are all different, I like the 'Vintage Prints' theme.

Is there a better free slideshow app out there without a steep learning curve that has something similar to the 'Vintage Prints' theme?
