My facetime and imessage won't work any more. I can't follow the steps because it won't let me toggle off the facetime or imessages in settings

My facetime and imessage on my ipad doesn't work anymore. I looked up how to fix the issue, however it tells me to turn off the messages and facetime with the toggle switch. When I go to turn it off it will not bring up the toggle switch it only brings up the screen with my email and sign in when I try to sign in it tells me message unable to contact the imessage server

Hello Burida73,

Based on the info provided it sounds like the device may currently be signed out of the services.

The remainder of the steps here may be able to help resolve the issue being experienced, particularly with checking the date and time, and trying another strong network (Wi-Fi/cellular): If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support

Check your device settings
1. Make sure that you’re connected to a cellular data or Wi-Fi network.
2. If you're using an iPhone, you need SMS messaging to activate your phone number with iMessage and FaceTime. Depending on your carrier, you might be charged for this SMS.
3. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time and make sure that your time zone is set correctly.

1. Make sure that your device has the latest version of iOS or iPadOS.
2. If you're using an iPhone, contact your carrier to make sure that you can send and receive SMS messages.
3. Make sure you can send and receive SMS. If a prompt appears stating "Your carrier may charge for SMS messages used to activate FaceTime and iMessage", tap "OK" to allow possible SMS charges.
4. Contact Apple Support.

Cheers.
