Incoming calls going directly to Voicemail on my iPhone

Please help! I have been wondering why I haven’t been getting any calls recently, then my mom told me the other night every time she calls it goes to voice mail, like immediately as if my phone were dead. I’m not sure why this is happening because I can send texts and receive them, but my calls just don’t come to my phone I’m so confused.

Finally found the fix from another post - after months and even upgrading phone - nothing worked nad this finally did

The setting that seemed to be causing it was in Mobile > Calls on other devices. (In this in this case were 2 nearby iPads , or I guess whatever were signed in or had been signed into iCloud?)

Turned that off and presto - issue resolved!

That didn’t help my issue. I don’t have focus or dnd enabled, I don’t have my phone enabled to receive calls on other devices and I don’t have numbers blocked for those trying to call me and the calls still go to voicemail without ringing on my end. Now text messages are failing too. Thumbs down for iOs 18!! How can I reverse and go back to the previous version when all features of my phone were working properly?

If you are actually using the iOS 17 beta you can’t get help in this public forum.

Here is general information about your issue:

FIRST: Are there missed calls in Phone/Recents on the phone? If they are not the problem is in the network, because the calls aren’t getting to your phone. Contact your carrier:

  • check with your carrier that they don’t have a local outage, and that you didn’t have any settings that would have immediately invoked voicemail, such as call forwarding.
  • check up on them at Down Detector - Crowdsourced outage checker

If they are in Recents here’s what to check:

  • Check the MUTE switch on the left side of the phone, above the volume buttons. It should be towards the screen
  • Check the volume setting. With the Home screen displayed, press the VOLUME UP button on the left side of the phone. It’s above the VOLUME DOWN button.
  • Go to Settings/Phone. There’s a switch for Silence Unknown Callers. If it is on any calls from numbers not in your contacts will go directly to voicemail.
    • If you keep it on, in Settings/Phone make sure Dial Assist is enabled; it is needed to accurately match an incoming call to a contact.
    • Remember that banks, doctors and other professionals may not call you from the same number that you have in your contacts for them.
  • Also in Settings/Phone: Make sure Call Forwarding is off.
  • Make sure Do Not Disturb is off:
    • iOS 16: Open the Control Center and turn off Focus.
    • iOS 17: method unknown at this time
  • Go to Settings/Sounds & Haptics. Make sure there is a sound assigned to Ringtone.
  • Go to Settings/Accessibility/Touch/Call Audio Routing and make sure Auto-Answer Calls is off.
  • Go to Settings/Screen Time/Communications Limits. Tap each of the 2 entries and make sure both are “Everyone"
  • Restart your phone-->Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
  • If all else fails, talk your carrier into replacing your SIM card (thanks to ASC user DShelbyD)

Im having the same problem. I can’t receive calls they go directly to voicemail. When I try and call them the green to answer the phone is not highlighted green. They are unable to answer. I’ve been on the phone with Verizon three times now and they say it’s fixed. So I text the people I can’t get phone calls from, and it still goes directly to voicemail. It was not fixed. They have gone through everything even stuff I looked up on the Internet. And they can’t figure it out they tell me I don’t have good service. I’ve been living here for 4 yrs, It’s never happened. I think they tell me I don’t have good service just cause I can’t figure out the problem. This really needs to be fixed people need their phones especially in times of emergencies. I’m paying for a phone that I can only text on.
