Mac Finder disappearing Location

I asked this question earlier this year. Someone gave the simple solution. Now the problem has recurred, and my previous question has scrolled out of this forum.

In my office we all rely on a server. In my Finder windows, the IP address of the server appears in Locations.

Within the server is one folder that I use almost exclusively. Someone here told me to drag that folder into Locations in my Finder window sidebar. I did. It worked nominally for several months.

Today that folder has disappeared from my Finder window sidebar. I try dragging that folder into the Finder window sidebar, but Finder won't let me.

What am I doing wrong? How do I get this folder to stay in the Finder sidebar?

I am in MacOS 13.5.2.

This is interesting. I tried dragging the folder icon into Locations. The icon would not go. But then I tried dragging the folder icon into Favorites. What I had not noticed was that the Favorites menu was scrolled up. When I dragged the folder icon into Favorites, the Favorites menu pulled down, and there was the folder icon I wanted.

What I do not know is whether the folder icon was already in Favorites or whether I put it there just now.

And I do not know how the Favorites menu got scrolled up.
