Find My Custom Labels

Years ago I used to be able to add custom labels on find my location to indicate where I am at specifically, to friends with my location. I haven’t had custom labels since, but i’ve noticed some of my family that I’m following on Find My, has custom labels today. Theres work obviously. I created two custom labels and then selected where I wanted those labels to show and each time I click the location I want, it changes back to ““Near “current city”” instead of the label i selected. I asked one of my followers to tell me what my location says, and it is in fact, not my custom label. Help!!!!! 😩

Hello nani249,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you've taken the correct steps to create a label and share your location using Share your location in Find My on iPhone - Apple Support. You can check out that article to make sure that's been completed. It might also be helpful to enable precise location for Maps since that will pinpoint the location. The following is from Turn Location Services and GPS on or off on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.

"How to share your specific location

With iOS 14 and iPadOS 14, some apps can use Precise Location to get to your specific location. To share only your approximate location — which may be sufficient for an app that doesn’t need your exact location — turn Precise Location off. Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security, then select Location Services.
  2. Select an app, then turn Precise Location on or off."

All the best.
