After the latest update my message arrow is now green. I know I’m messaging ppl with iPhone cuz they are my children and on my mobile plan . Also, having trouble with FaceTime after this latest update.

Hi mwferguson13,

This indicates that either you or the people you're sending messages to aren't using iMessage. To set this up, you'll need to follow the steps outlined in Set up Messages on iPhone - Apple Support

If you're experiencing a similar issue with FaceTime, that will need to be set up as well: Set up FaceTime on iPhone - Apple Support

Cheers.

Try this:

If you have issues with Messages after you set up a new device

If you experience issues like conversations in Messages showing up as separate threads or sent messages appearing as green message bubbles instead of blue message bubbles when you set up a new device, update your settings using the following steps:

  1. Update your device to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS if needed.
  2. In the Settings app, tap Cellular. Make sure that your phone line is turned on. If you use multiple SIMs, make sure that the phone number you want to use is selected and turned on.
  3. In the Settings app, tap Messages. Turn iMessage off and then back on.
  4. Tap Send & Receive.
  5. Tap the phone number that you want to use with Messages.

If you have issues when you try to receive a FaceTime call after you set up a new device, you can also update your FaceTime settings.

Thank you for all your suggestions but I had already tried all those steps several times prior to writing about my issues. Again, this happened after the latest update and some others I’ve spoken to have the same issue and have tried all the above steps also. I’m guessing this won’t resolve until another genius update fixes all these quirks.

I've updated two iPhones, two iPads, two Apple Watches and a MacBook Pro with the most current software and none of them are having the issues you're experiencing. Waiting for an update to roll out for an issue no one else here as written about isn't a great solution. Sorry. I'd reach out to Apple Support for help, if I were you. If you're in the US, you can call them at 800-MY-APPLE or maybe schedule a visit to your closest Apple Store Genius Bar.
