Starbucks app controlling my iPhone 14 brightness, reduces it so I can see

Does anyone else use the Starbucks app and experience and instant increase in phone's brightness? THEN, if you don't close the app after they scan your barcode, the brightness lowers so low you can't see anything but a blank screen? This happens all the time. Why does Apple allow apps to control the phones brightness. Starbucks corporate said it's Apple's issue, not theirs. Any help?

Another update. Remove the app and reinstall only works for a little bit. The permanent fix for me was to set the screen brightness to 99%. You will have to guess on the screen settings amount since there’s no percentage indicator. But close to full brightness but NOT 100%. Brightness. The Starbucks app will go full screen 100% brightness and then back to the screen setting that you had set. But if you have the screen set on 100% the app thinks that the screen is set to something different and as a result will drop to zero brightness. Yes this is a bug.

That's now what I said at all. When Apple is updating iOS, they send the API (Application Protocol Interface) to the 3rd party App Developers. It is their responsibility to go into the code of their app to make it compliant with the newest software. Apple cannot go into the code of their app, because Apple doesn't own the code, nor have rights to alter their code. Apple simply hosts a platform for the Apps to be used by Apple users on Apple devices.

If the App Developer doesn't optimize their app or their app causes an issue in the operation of their app, Apple can't fix it. The App developer of the app has to address the issue.

I've used a number of QR/Barcodes, but have not noticed any reduction or increase in brightness doing so on my iPhone 15 Pro Max.

That said, I'm not doubting it's happening to anyone, but there is no setting we users can change, so if anyone wants to alert Apple to this, this isn't the place to do that as this is a user to user only forum.

This is my concern. I am aware some apps increase brightness when open, especially boarding passes, however, the Starbucks app, unless I close it immediately- but in a drive through I try to scan and pull out, the app brings down the brightness to the point I can't see anything and have to restart the phone. Apple needs to a add a feature to "allow/not allow third party apps to control brightness"

I thought I was going crazy. This happens to me only when I use corporate, free standing Starbucks stores. My screen is so black I can't even see the brightness controller. It took several times for me to figure out what was happening.

I just keep on guessing in the dark as to where the control is and eventually get it back to normal.
