While you can trade-in your iPhone at an Apple Store, you may need to trade it in using the same method you use to preorder it if you'd like to use the trade in credit for the preorder. At least in past years, if you schedule the pickup of your new device in-store, you can give them your trade-in in-store at that time.

If you choose to have your new phone shipped to you, you will need to ship your trade-in back.
