Mac/ Chrome Autocapitalizing Words with 'I' despite Settings Disabled – Seeking Assistance.

When I type in Chrome, it automatically capitalizes every word starting with an "I." I've disabled autocapitalization in both Chrome and my Mac settings, but the issue persists. Occasionally, I receive a pop-up in the corner of my Mac asking if I want to capitalize (I'll attach a photo). For each word that begins with an "I," I either have to click "esc" after typing the "I" or go back and change the letter to lowercase once the word is completed. This issue is frustrating, and I've searched extensively for a solution. I also prefer Safari, but I must use Chrome for a few applications that aren't compatible with Safari. Please help; I've been looking everywhere and can't find a solution.

That sounds like a particularly frustrating issue, especially when you've already explored the standard avenues for resolution. Here are some troubleshooting steps you might consider:

Mac System Settings

1. Check Keyboard Settings: Navigate to `System Preferences` -> `Keyboard` -> `Text` and ensure that the `Capitalize words automatically` option is unchecked.

2. Check Language Settings: Make sure the language is set to your preferred version (e.g., British English) in `System Preferences` -> `Language & Region`.

Chrome Settings

1. Reset Chrome Settings: Sometimes corrupted settings could be the cause. You can try resetting Chrome settings to the default. But beware, this will reset everything like startup page, new tab page, search engine, and pinned tabs, etc.

2. Check Extensions: A Chrome extension may be causing this. Open Chrome in Incognito mode (which disables all extensions) to see if the problem persists.

Other Solutions

1. Software Update: Ensure both macOS and Chrome are updated to their latest versions.

2. User Profile: Create a new user profile on your Mac and test to see if Chrome behaves the same way. This will determine if the issue is specific to your user profile.

3. Check with Other Apps: Verify if the problem is unique to Chrome or if it's system-wide.

Advanced

1. Console: Open `Console` (you can find this via Spotlight Search) and look for any error logs or warnings related to keyboard input or Chrome specifically. This could offer clues.

2. Terminal: You can try running some commands to reset any local settings, although this is generally for advanced users and should be approached with caution.

If you've tried all these and are still facing the issue, it might be a bug that needs to be reported to Chrome or Apple support. Given that you've been asked to capitalize by a pop-up, there might be a specific software interference or bug causing this rather unique issue.
