Not sure if this will help anyone but I just got this phone and had the same issue- wish I would have read about this because I use a 3rd party app for work and that is the sole purpose of me getting a new phone. While not ideal- a workable solution was standing further back, then zooming in, and the picture was very clear.

If that works for you, the problem is you are standing too close to whatever you are taking a photo of with the third party app for the lens to focus on it.

Yes! I didn’t have that issue with my previous iPhones, just this one, and I do have to be very close with taking some photos for work to capture things like very small embossed part numbers. So far it is the only thing I found that works for me. Hope this is helpful for someone!
