Why isn't there a way to leave a group chat silently in Messages?

I want the ability to leave a group chat without notifying the group that I left. This creates unnecessary drama when I'm simply trying to trim the amount of group chats I'm involved in. Sure I can mute the group chat, but it always ends up at the top of the list if someone sends a message. I simply just don't want to see it on my screen and I don't want people to know that I left without checking for themselves in the group members list.
