Where are the blur tools and some brushes in screenshots?

Apple gave Preview a number of rudimentary markup features and I think yours is a reasonable request.

I use Preview's markup features frequently and still find myself looking for a tool that isn't there. Perhaps Apple gets pressured by certain vendors of overpriced bloatware not to include them, in which case your request won't get anywhere.

Apple does not provide brushes nor a blur tool in Preview. Never has. You want the free GIMP, or Affinity Designer 2 (free demo) where there are blur and brush tools in either application.

Does it have to be a blur?

I routinely post screenshots here edited with Preview. I cover any private information with a filled rectangle.

Command-Control-R is the keyboard shortcut, or you can select from the menu or the toolbar.

I just drag out a field shape or an unfilled shape for those functions. Not sure why I need a special brusher tool to do it. Preview isn’t a photo retouching tool.

You would have to actually contact Apple to pitch them on your ideas.

Yes, it's just a screenshot. The Preview app is just a preview tool. If you want to do photo manipulations, use a photo editor.
