Can I upgrade my Macbook Pro Mid 2010

I have a Macbook Pro Mid 2010 - I currently am running High Sierra and was recently prompted that Chrome would need a higher verison. What is the highest or next OS that I can upgrade to? it seems from reading that I am unable to upgrade. Is this a hardware issue that can be upgradable (i.e. RAM) or is it just the limitations of the system?
