Sound constantly disappears in MacBook Pro [Ventura]

After the latest update to Ventura 13.5.2, I have started experiencing issues with sound. Initially, the audio works for a few seconds after a reboot. However, after playing the very first music or video, the sound disappears. For example, when I play a video in VLC, it has sound, but if I switch to another video or audio, the sound disappears. Even playing a YouTube video in the browser doesn't have sound.

To temporarily resolve this issue, I have to force quit the "coreaudiod" process, but this solution only works for a few minutes, and then the sound disappears again.

I have tried several solutions, including NVRAM reset and SMC reset, but all of them provide only temporary relief, as the audio works for a while before encountering the same issue.

Troubleshoot the Mac Audio:

What to Try:

  • Unmute the App:

If an app has its own audio input and output settings, then perform things on the app itself.

  • Remove External Devices:

Verify what your output item is.

  • Disable Bluetooth:

If there are any microphones nearby, then they may be getting in the way via bluetooth.

See if an app is permitted to use your microphone.

  • Boot into Safe Mode:

When you boot into Safe Mode, items load by default, with certain settings and caches set aside. So, hold down the shift key upon boot. See what happens then.

  • Create a New Administrator:

See if creating and logging in as a new administrator does the trick. There may be something misconfigured in your current user - something that is getting in the way. Go to: System Preferences > Users & Groups > Unlock > Click: "+" > Create the new administrator

If you're not seeking for advice on a clean install, then put my reply aside.

Copy & Paste Error.

My reply should have just read...

Back Up your Mac Prior:

Be sure you Create a Time Machine backup of your Mac, so that you can have something to restore your Mac from, should anything go wrong with the reinstall.

I did not understand this. I have two questions. If possible please answer.

  1. After 13.5.2 update only I started facing this audio issue in my speakers only. Headphones are working fine without the need of restarting coreaudiod. As per your knowledge is this a hardware issue or a software bug ?
  2. Can a restore a backup that took in Sonoma to Big Sur or Venture, simple is the backup works for Backward OS Compatibility ?
