Shure MV88 work with new iPhone 15?

I've only been able to use my Shure MV88 mic with my iPhone 13 Pro Max (not my MacBook Pros or my iPad Pro). Now that Apple has introduced the iPhone 15 with USB-C instead of Lightning (and they apparently plan to discontinue Lightning), I'm wondering if Shure will develop a "workaround" or some way to use the MV88 mic with the iPhone 15? and other USB-C devices... finally. ??? Or was the purchase of the Shure MV88 an ongoing mistake (could only be used with my iPhone)?

You have to by the one from apple, the usb c to lightening adapter, for charging, data, and audio. Mine working perfectly, except that the nuisance of the adapter cable dangling. I have to use my hand to hold it when I record video. I attached the photo for your reference. Good luck

I purchased the MV88+ kit for my iPhone 15 Pro Max earlier this week. The kit comes with cables for Lightning and USB-C, plus a short hand-held/desktop tripod. Adverts say this kit works best with iOS.

I tested it yesterday and today. It works well with Shure’s MOTIV video and MOTIV audio apps. I'm still calibrating presets, but it’s a good buy with smooth audio output. Video output to .mov files. Easy transfer to Final Cut Pro.

I believe there was an update for the Shure software in mid-September.

My only complaint about the kit is the holder for the iPhone MAX. The package says it holds the phone with a case, but no, you have to take the case off, and it takes a bit of fiddling to lock the phone in place. It probably holds better for the smaller phone models.

I just got the MV88+ Video Kit - I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and loaded both the Video and Audio Motiv Apps. Neither of them worked correctly until I loaded the desktop Motiv app on my PC and did a firmware update on the mic. THAT SOLVED ALL THE PROBLEMS! Works great. Sadly, all of the YouTube instruction videos are from 4 years ago and show an older UX too. So it was driving me crazy until I did the firmware update. Enjoy!

I’ve also been wondering the same thing; I was one of the few that didn’t want to go usb-c because I knew my MV88 wouldn’t work anymore.

I know Shure has the MV88+ that works with USB-C devices, but on their page it says it doesn’t work with iPads that have USB-C. In theory it should work with the new iPhones, but I think until someone buys one and tries it, or Shure confirms it, we will not know.

From what I understand, the Sure MOTIV video app does not support Cinematic video in the iPhone but you can still use the Apple native iPhone Camera app (which will the MV88+ as an external mic) for shooting in Cinematic mode. However, assuming that when using the iPhone Camera app, you cannot access audio recording features available in the MOTIV app such as adjusting gain, stereo width and polar patterns etc...? I'm looking for an all purpose professional sounding external microphone for recording TV/Theatrical auditions (as well as music and film making) on the iPhone that supports Cinematic video within the 3rd party app so you still have the ability to adjust audio but haven't been able to find one. I believe this is because Apple has not provided Cinematic video support to 3rd party apps on the app store. If anyone has a recommendation please share!

Recorded a lovely male vocal duet this morning using the MV88+ and the iPhone 15 Pro, using the standard USB-C cable supplied with the 88+. It worked fine except that there's a high-pitched whine at the start of the recording. I have no idea where it came from - it was not present in the live audio, so I am guessing it is the phone or the cable. Does anyone have any info about this?
