Have you tried checking for updates in the App Store for this particular game? If not, we would recommend starting there since app updates are often deployed to resolve unexpected issues such as the one you're describing. Here's how: How to manually update apps on your Apple device - Apple Support
Once you're up to date, if the issue continues to occur, try rebooting your iPhone to see if that may help get things working: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
If that doesn't work, another important step to try would be reinstalling the game and seeing if a fresh install does the trick.
