Apple's trade-in webpage has questions and answers at the bottom: Apple Trade In - Apple
Eg: says:
"Your trade-in estimate is valid for 14 days after you receive your new device. It’s important that we receive your trade in within this time frame to ensure that you get the estimated value".
"Your trade-in confirmation email will show you in detail how to return your device, whether by scheduling a courier pick-up or dropping off at an eligible location".
