To add a card to apple pay or a link a payment method to your Apple ID, follow these steps:

To add a card to Apple Pay, follow these steps:

1. In the Wallet app, tap the Add button. 
2. Tap Continue.
3. Follow the steps on the screen to add a new card.
4. Verify your information with your bank or card issuer. They might ask you to provide more information or to download an app before approving your card for use with Apple Pay.
5. If you have a paired Apple Watch, you have the option to also add the card to your watch.

Please note that Apple Pay is not available in many regions. Countries and regions that support Apple Pay - Apple Support (NZ)

To link a payment method to your Apple ID, follow these steps:

1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap your name.
3. Tap Payment & Shipping. You may be asked to sign in with your Apple ID.
4. Tap Add Payment Method, enter the new payment method, then tap Done.
5. Tap Edit.
6. Tap the red delete button next to the old payment method, then tap Delete.
