My fcpx is making multiple libraries of the same project

I am Nidhi Kamath, a documentary filmmaker from India and Founder of Indigo Reels.

I have been using FCPx for a few years. However I have faced a new problem where my FCPx is creating multiple libraries, each time I make a new change on my timeline it makes a new library.

I will be glad if you can help me with this. As I am finding it really difficult working on my project. I have attached 2 screenshots.

Looking forward for your guidance.

Warm Regards

We are all users like you, trying to help each other here in this forum. Neither I nor anyone else here posting in this forum work for Apple.

I can assure you that there is nothing untoward in these files. They are clearly backup libraries created by FCP.

The dates indicate that they are from last month: "20230808" in the file names means August 8, 2023.

There is really no reason to open these libraries unless your working library is lost, or crashed, or is having serious problems, and you need to revert to an older backup.

And for why your project does not appear in the oldest backup, the logical reason is that perhaps it did not exist yet at the time; back of course we can only speculate.

No, it’s not a bug, as I told you before. Final Cut Pro always makes those backups. By default they are saved in folders under “Final Cut Backups” inside your Movies folder. In this case the settings were changed and media, caches and backups were set to be saved in the folder you showed in the first post. Presumably you did that and are now just seeing the results of that change. You could just undo this for the present library.
