Update MacBook
Have a MacBook running macOS High Sierra 10.13.6. That was purchased in 2018. Which update should I use Monterey or Mojave to update with. And is there problems I should be aware of.

Monterey and Ventura are your best bets for compatibility with modern applications. Apple has said that they will release Sonoma this fall. When they do, nothing before Monterey will be among "the most recent three", and you will find some companies like Microsoft and Adobe dropping support for Big Sur like it was a hot potato.
Note that if you upgrade to Catalina or above,
