Hello! I use Macbook pro mid 2012 and its my first time to decide to change the RAM to 8GB as per the specs I saw in your description. My question is, can an ordinary consumer install the RAM by just following the instructions? Is there any additional software to run? I hope not. Hope someone answers. Thanks in advance.

Just be advised that Macs are intolerant of memory that does not actually meet those published specifications. Many vendors sell RAM to PC users who don't know the difference, because Windows PCs can alter their memory bus speeds to cope with substandard RAM. Macs don't do that. It has to meet specifications.
Other than that, no additional software needs to be installed. Use the precautions that Apple Support document describes.

You can follow the instructions provided by OWC. If your Mac has a retina display the RAM can not be replaced.

It's very easy to determine if your Mac's performance is being limited by available memory. Please read Check if your Mac needs more RAM in Activity Monitor - Apple Support. If the "Memory Pressure" graph is frequently "red" your Mac would benefit from additional memory. If not, it won't. It's that simple.
OWC is the only vendor of aftermarket RAM that I have used and can personally recommend. They probably test theirs for specification compliance before shipping, whereas I suspect most PC-centric vendors don't.
The Apple specs for the RAM for the mid-2012 non-Retina model say it is limited to 8GB maximum.
Many users have installed up to 16GB RAM in that model, BUT: to do so, you need to buy the EXACT correct RAM from a Mac-Centric Vendor who can also provide support, so that if it does not work for you, they can help you fix it.
