Why does Apple INSIST on syncing my photos every update?

I take a lot of photos. And to be honest, quite a few of them are not for public consumption. I have never, not one second wanted my collection of X-rated photos to sync with iCloud. I have never turned on that service and I would never turn on that service due to the potential liability of someone coming across X-rated photos of myself and others.

But every time there's an update, Apple resets my photo sync and literally uploads all of my photos to the cloud against my will. What can I do to prevent Apple from doing this?

I am 100% certain that I have never nor would I ever approve of having my photos uploaded to iCloud. So why does this keep happening?

This isn't turned on by Apple, it is by you and only you unless someone else has access to your phone. Don't like it turn it off. Set up and use iCloud Photos - Apple Support
