Mac only recognizing one monitor in clamshell mode

Hello, I am trying to use my new Macbook Air 2023 with an M2 chip on my dock system. when the macbook itself is open, it will recognize one external monitor which is what I expected. However, when I transition to clamshell mode, it still only recognizes one monitor and I am trying to figure out ways to make it recognize the second one. both of the monitors are plugged in to the dock correctly and working, but the monitors just mirror each other, and I want them to extend into each other. Is there any way to fix this? or am I going to have to deal with this as a Mac user. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

The 13" and 15" M2 MacBook Airs only support one external monitor.
