Within the last week, whenever I try to send an attachment using the mail tab on my macbook air, my computer freezes and I have to force quit the program. I've not had this problem in the past and am able to send attachments using gmail in my browsers. Why is this suddenly happening on my computer?

I add attachments one of two ways: Drag and drop or use the paperclip icon. Both work equally well on our five Macs.
That's with Mac mail. If you have a problem with gmail, you need to contact Google for assistance with their product.
Yes, I know HOW to do it. My computer WON'T do it. I've had this mac for 2 years and never had this issue until this week.
The Mail tab I'm referring to is the envelope in my dock that is linked to my email addresses.

It's the responsibility of the developer to make his product work with macOS, not the reverse.
Why are you answering if you're not able to help? The developer is Apple since it is the Mail app for the Mac.
