Just hit this exact same issue. Feel like I’m being punished for having my own music collection and being forced to get Apple Music and stream. I don’t want to do that, I enjoy having my own music collection that I manage.
this better be corrected as there’s no justification to count it twice.
On a 256GB 14 Pro Max, 17.0.2, I see the following measures:
iTunes says 84.34GB free
iPhone Storage says 86.25
About says 90.56
iMazing says 104.71
Synced content says 15.83GB used
The best part is I had spoken to 3 senior Apple advisors and all of them told me that they do not face this problem because they dont update their iPhone to IOS 17 yet. Some things fishy?
sparksd - similar background. Agree with your comments.
I never had sync enabled so that setting has no effect on this problem.
Thanks for the update! I’m watching with interest!
Itunes music is included
Free gift? Fat chance.
17.0.3 fixed it for me
Yes, seems to have worked for me too.
please let us know what you hear back? I have the same issue and its preventing me from updating to 17.0.3 because i don't have enough free space.
Is your music from Apple or downloaded? I have 16GB of music, all downloaded from ripped CDs, and it doesn't show any music in the storage listing, just the sync data. And did you try a full restart?
Tons of ripped music from CDs. I may have some stuff that I bought from iTunes Store years ago...
Updating to 17.0.3 resolved this for me.
...but did your 'system data' go up?
share3141 so this storage just kinda 'shift' to system data instead of really going away.
The sync data on my iPhone equals the sum total of iOS (17.0.3) storage and System Data Storage. Maybe Tech Support is not that far off in their understanding.
