Trying to use GoPro as a webcam on an iPad running IOS17

My partner is a music/piano teacher. She does some lessons online. She has been using an iPad for about 18 months and conferencing via FB Messenger.

We want to be able to switch between the front facing camera to an external webcam trained on the keyboard.

We have seen IOS17 offers “plug and play” USB webcams, so we bought a GoPro Hero 9.

But it is not plug and play. I have tried FaceTime.

The closest we have got is to set up a Facebook Live, which is not suitable for our needs.

I am not a Mac Native and I am getting beyond frustrated.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

The limited available information suggests that regular USB webcams should work with iPads with a USB-C port - the iPad having been updated to iPadOS 17.x.

FaceTime reportedly supports connection of an external webcam; other Apps will acquire support when/if the respective App Developer updates their App to access the relevant iPadOS API.

In summary, individual Apps will only support external webcams when they have added this support.
