Using the new 'Siri' command with AirPods Pro (v1)

I have upgraded my phone to iOS 17 and have the latest version of the AirPods firmware installed (6A300), but I cannot get the AirPods to respond to the 'Siri' prompt (as opposed to 'Hey Siri'). Everything works with 'Hey Siri' but nothing happens with just 'Siri'. I noticed in the 'Listen for' settings page it says that 'With certain headphones connected 'Hey Siri' is required.', but I found an Apple support page that said it should work with AirPods Pro V1.

Anybody else having this problem or know of a solution?

I have the same hardware, same versions, and same issue. Weirder still, I also have a brand-new MacBook Air M2 that seems to have the same problem: it responds to "Siri" and "Hey Siri" equally well using its own microphone, but as soon as I connect my AirPods Pro v1 to it, it only responds to "Hey Siri". Any clue what could be causing this problem? My guess is an oversight in the new AirPods firmware.
