Screen distance
Do I need to activate my Face ID first before the screen distance can function? Or without the Face ID the screen distance would work ?

No, this is not neccesary. See this on how to activate screen distance
- Go to Settings > Screen Time.
- Tap Screen Distance, then turn Screen Distance on or off.
