What (earliest) iPhone versions will enable the ECG app on the new Series 9 Apple Watch? I presently have a Motorola Tracfone, and would buy an early iPhone, assuming it would function with the new Apple watches. Only want the GPS version Apple Watch.

watchOS 10 (that runs on the Series 9) requires and iPhone XS or later. However, if you aren’t married to the idea of a Series 9, the ECG app is available on earlier model Apple Watches, from the Series 4 onwards (but not the SE models.)
So you could get an even earlier model iPhone and pair it with a Series 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 (depending on what model iPhone you also get.)
