Error 1606 - Change windows registry?

I'm trying to install iTunes 6 and I'm still having problems. I'm still getting the " Error 1606 could not access network location bin" I tried the standalone install for QT and it worked fine so i guess the problem is with iTunes. I was reading some info and in their docs it says that i might have to modify my windows registry, when i check that out it has warning signs all over the place about damagin windows if thats not done properly...
Off couse i want my iTunes but i dont want to risk my computer...any ideas???? heeelppp!!

hi Mantax!

don't touch your Windows Registry if you don't feel comfortable about doing it. (i don't myself especially like advising people to try registry edits unless i'm quoting an authoritative and/or reliable source.)

do you have access to IT support, or registry-experienced friends and family who can help you with checking the Registry (or do the checking for you)?
