FCP - Delete multiple keyframes at once.

In FCP how do you select multiple keyframes and then delete those keyframes? I have a lot of keyframes that need to be deleted. It is too cumbersome to select each keyframe one at a time and delete. If possible I'd prefer to use a selection rectangle to select multiple keyframes and then delete. I can't seem to figure it out even when reading this:

It's odd, the manual says this but I've never had it work:

  • "Drag a selection rectangle around the keyframes you want to select.
  • Tip: In the Video Animation or Audio Animation editor, you can select a range by dragging with the Select tool or the Range Selection tool. To select a range of keyframes displayed in the clip body (such as audio keyframes) you must use the Range Selection tool."

I've always figured it was just some long standing bug or something erroneous in the manual.

That is interesting. I tried to do the same thing and at first also did not succeed.

Except... I could actually do it for the Compositing:Opacity, once I clicked the disclosure triangle.

I tried it with another effect as well.

My take away from this is: you can select by dragging a selection rectangle if that area of the Video Animation pane is twirled open. In the picture below, "Comic Cool: Mix" is open and I CAN select multiple keyframes by dragging. Composing: Opacity is closed, but if I open, by clicking the disclosure triangle, then I also can select.

Other parameters do not show that disclosure triangle, and their keyframes cannot be selected by dragging.

ah yeah, that's not clear from the manual.

You can drag out a selection rectangle

You can drag that selection rectangle left and right

You can command + option drag the whole keyframe line up and down (odd how this works though, seems inconsistent)

You can selection rectangle a group of keyframes and drag them up and down

Neat, i've never had this work before. Now if we could just drag to select keyframes in an un-expanded keyframe line.
