iOS 17 iMessage Bugs?

I have the iPhone 11 Pro Max 64MGS in Space Gray. I upgraded from iOS 16.6.1 to the new iOS 17 on Monday when it was released to the public. Well now 1 day later there are bugs and glitches! I literally lost 2 years of a group chat with my sisters and I plus 2 years worth of pics and vids here also as well too! Anybody else have this issue with iMessage?! Is there anyway that I can recover 2 years worth of group chats and pics and vids with my sisters here? Any help would be appreciated here! Thank you!

17.2 update did not fix this bug. I still cannot see the 5th line. It is always the fifth line whether horizontal or vertical orientation. Thus, I can change orientation to read the line, but that is a pain. It also pops up if I type on to the sixth line.

I am having the exact same issue as Dozitm is having. I use the voice text function in iMessage ALL the time. Ever since iOS 17, whenever I send a voice text, the whole iMessage app freezes up while the voice text is sending AND it takes much longer to send. I can’t send anything else, can’t open other text threads. Nothing. It doesn’t help to exit the app and try to reopen it. At that point, it’ll just “open” a blank screen. Please fix this!!

I have 17.1.1 and suddenly, texts are double spaced and I can’t type over 4 lines. In some cases, if a text to me it longer than 4 lines it doesn’t come in. Checked to see if I had accidentally clicked an accessibility button or a messages setting but all was the same as before. Now, when I hit 4 lines of text, I get a blue underline under the whole text and I can’t see what I’m trying to type. Huge problem that needs an immediate fix.

Agree 100%. I have the same dictation and texting issues. I thought things would get better but they are 10 times worse. I don’t know if they outsource this and people don’t understand English. I agree with you- Apple get your act together, or I’m switching to an android on my next phone. I don’t expect this from a high caliber company like Apple.

Apple has been the absolute worst with this update. I bought the iPhone 14, 256GB less than a month ago. I had text glitches (freezing, 3-4 buttons swollen and frozen, words lagging to appear for several seconds, cursor issues, etc.) in texting and in any apps or on the web from day one. Verizon didn’t have it in the warehouse, so I had to work through apple.

My first call to Apple tried to do a resetting that would not erase anything. It didn’t work, so Apple scheduled me an appointment with Best Buy who explained there was nothing they could do and they don’t know why Apple keeps sending their clients there. Next, I had an appointment at the Apple Store, more than 45min away from where I live, where the woman spent all but 10 minutes with me. She would not remove my phone case, despite the scars on my hands showing her I was unable to do it. She watched the glitches on my phone, but because the Apple tests said nothing was wrong with my phone she said she couldn’t replace it. I called Apple, which made me update to 17.1.2 from 17.1, which caused the issue to get worse. Then, I spent 5 hours on the phone with them to reboot my phone to original settings (which erased everything I did with the phone even though they made sure I backed it up to iCloud) since I got the new phone. Apparently, the agent determined that it was a software malfunction and everything needed to be reverted back to a brand new phone. The following day, I spent 2+ hours on the phone with them to restore everything to the previous day, but all my texts that I’ve had since I got the new phone was gone. They said the only way they could replace my phone was through Apple Care if I wanted to buy that, which I refused because my phone was still under warranty with Verizon.

Finally, Verizon got my phone back in stock, and I was able to replace it. Everything was working great, but I forgot to turn off automatic updates. My phone did the automatic update for 17.2.1 a couple days ago, and all the glitching for typing on anything was back. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times my phone froze while I was typing this.

I think I’m going to try to exchange it for an android because this is so frustrating. I use my phone all day long for work, and I can’t have these issues. Apple needs to fix this or restore my phone back to before this update

in order for me to stay with them.
