Why doesn’t iOS 17 have magnifier anymore when marking up photo or screen shot ?

I used it all the time as well. I also used the arrow instead of drawing one free hand. They don’t have the circle or rectangle anymore either. Interestingly enough ALL of these features are in the iOS 17 user guide so they ALL are supposed to be available. I never even heard back from the senior advisor I spoke to over the issue and she said I’d hear something back within 48hrs by email. It’s been at least two weeks now and no email !

This is iOS17 user guide and it says adding shapes and magnifier ARE available!! This is what really gets me frustrated along with Apple Senior Advisor never even replying to me !!!

For circle and rectangle outlines only

u can select the shapes. Once the shape appears on the photo, a menu appears at the bottom.

1st circle - u can use this to select the color and opacity of the outline.

2nd circle - u can use this select the thickness of outline

3rd circle - u can use this to select the color to fill in the shape and u can also select the opacity / transparency of the shape. Here u can also select no color option to only get the outline. (Attaching image below)

4th circle - u can use this to increase / decrease the opacity / transparency of the entire shape and outline.

Yes this way is def easier. Senior Advorsor left a voicemail for me today and she stated “ Engineers got back to me and stated that magnifier is working “ it’s obviously not on iOS 17.0.3 on iPhone. She then stated I should leave feedback on community page. 🙄 So, it seems to me they don’t seem very concerned with the issue since the engineers say “it’s working”

Yes you are correct I do see the arrow. It has shapes but how do you encircle something and make the outline of the circle something like this … ⭕️ ? I see solid shapes and able to change the color of the entire shape not … example - a purple rectangle and just the outline of the rectangle purple. Are you able to do that ? Thank you for sharing that arrows are still there… I completely didn’t see that

Also, I forgot to mention this

if you want to quickly draw a circle, square, any shape, or even arrow :-

instead of going in the menu and selecting shape and doing all this above.

you can simply draw a circle with finger and just keep touching the screen for sometime. It’s like draw and hold. It will automatically change to a perfect circle/oval/square/rectangle/any shape/arrow.

I did the same in above image to show the green arrow and green circle. Try it.

I just noticed it's gone off my phone as well.

Due to that, along with the way my contacts list has always refused to save new people and their social media links without a big struggle, and a whole host of other annoyances that gets bigger all the time ančell known fact that Steve Jobs was the reason Apple made it, which is why they continue to produce the same exact phone recipe from back then to now), I am done with Apple Iphones after being a loyal customer for 10 years or so. I am going to get a Samsung when this darn thing gets too old. G

...just another reason to switch to Samsung which I'm def doing as soon as my current Apple Iphone is done. I have so many longstanding issues going on with it which neither the Apple "solutions" online nor the actual Apple techs still can't figure out, even after 4-5 hours session being stuck on a phone call with them. I mean, my goodness, my last two phones will not save a new contact without a fight. I often have to fill out a new one 2-3 times bc it will just boink the new card away when it updates and what's more important than having the most basic phone calling applications in working order? Its ridiculous.

Not only Magnifier tool disappeared from editing photos via Markup function.

The object are quite difficult to handle and gone is easiness and speed with instant editing or marking up pictures.

On top of that, the new shapes, with all their functions, are not allowed to take any position. Instead, they are jumping the allowed positions....

Huge step back, very disappointing, Apple. Bad bad job
