iOS 17 Update Installation Issue on iPhone 11

Description:

I'm unable to successfully install the iOS 17 update on my iPhone 11. The device manages to download the update and initiate the installation process. However, after approximately 5 minutes, the device shuts down and then powers back on without completing the update. The update file seems to be deleted from the device memory after this restart.

Relevant Details:

  • Device Model: iPhone 11
  • Current iOS Version: Tried on iOS 16.6, 16.6.1, and 16.7
  • Available Storage: Approximately 50 GB
  • Internet Connection: Stable
  • Power Source: Device is connected to a power source during the update process.
  • Previous Successful Update: Upgrade to iOS 16.7 RC was performed without any issues.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update.
  2. Click on "Download and Install" for iOS 17 update.
  3. Wait for the device to download the update.
  4. Once downloaded, the device initiates the installation process.
  5. After about 5 minutes, the device turns off.
  6. Device powers back on without the update being completed.
  7. On checking, the update file is found to be deleted from memory.

Expected Result:

iOS 17 should be successfully installed and running on the iPhone 11 after the update process.

Actual Result:

Device powers on with the old iOS version (either 16.6, 16.6.1, or 16.7, depending on the starting point), and the iOS 17 update file is deleted from memory.

I've gone too far in trying to install the update. This resulted in a hang-up at power-on. Only a factory reset via Finder/iTunes helped. You can try not such a "hard" way, but reset via settings in iOS and restore a fresh backup.

The only thing that saved me was that I had a fresh copy in iCloud. The iPhone crashed completely unexpectedly and irreversibly. Support couldn't help and didn't vixen this case in any way, although often such problems are massive after some time. Good luck with the update!
