IOS 17 Contact Poster Disabling Default Gray Calling Screen

Is there a way to disable the default gray calling screen on iOS 17 for contacts that don't have a poster set, as it's impacting battery life and doesn't match my preferences in terms of appearance?

The default color scheme bothers my eyes, I want to change it. I have over 1,200 contacts. Do you expect me to do this 1,200 times? Why not allow the option to change to all back to the old style, and have another option to change individual ones. Terrible update!!!!!

Xanavi - Please send feedback to Apple. I have. Feedback - iPhone - Apple

I'm desperate for them to fix this because I can't read the text on the call screen due to the lack of contrast with the gray background. I use my phone for business (hundreds of contacts without "posters") and the gray screen is no less than crippling for me. I use earphones and need to constantly read and navigate the call screen when on a business call, so it's a huge problem for me. I have Dark Mode on which makes my phone a joy to use on most screens, but my Dark Mode preference is being completely ignored on this new call screen (and in Contacts). Apple has to hear from us, otherwise they will think we're ok with this. Please add your voice where it's supposed to count - in the Apple Feedback.

You really think that’s it 8AppleFan? I would hate to think Apple would intentionally create an interface which pushes people away or causes usability issues for users with less than perfect vision just to force adoption of a new feature. I was just thinking that their user testing and feedback did not include many older people who may have contrast issues in their vision, or perhaps they were following some strange new low-contrast gray trend in user interface design, but maybe you are right. Apple is normally pretty good about addressing Accessibility issues, so let’s give them a little more time to fix this before giving up on our beloved iPhones!

The gray screen is likely not going to be fixed because it was designed to look ugly. Apple wants its users to update their contact posters so they look pretty on incoming calls. But the ugly gray screen will continue to show up for any non-Apple users since they do not have the contact posters feature. It encourages people to buy an Apple phone so they don’t appear ugly on other Apple phones. That is also why Apple chose an ugly green background to identify non-Apple users in iMessage. So please never get annoyed at anyone who has an ugly gray screen or a yucky green bubble. Apple understands aesthetics and could make them look nice if they wanted to.
