Wassap calling and Telegram does not work

Hi,

I have an iPhone SE, since one week I am having issues with normal calls, wassap and telegram calling. This is really frustrating for me. I tried to reboot the device multiple times but it did not help. I checked for updates and there was a pending update for iOS 16.6.1 so I updated the device even with this it did not help. This lead me to believe that there might be something wrong with the microphone itself but to my surprise calling on IMO (another app I use) works just fine. By getting to know this now I am clueless.

With normal calls I can here what the other person is telling but my voice is not going through clearly. However for wassap and telegram it is behaving more or less similar. As soon as someone picks the calls (wasspa & telegram) I see the option connecting and eventually the call fails. I checked the microphone settings and it is enabled for all the apps.

It would be great if anyone can help or suggest something to fix the issue.

Best regards,

Ahsan

Hello Ahsan2209,

We would recommend taking these related steps for a solution: If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working

If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working

If the sound is unclear during phone calls, during FaceTime calls, in video recordings, or in apps, learn what to do.

Clear the microphones

1. Remove any screen protectors, films, or cases from your iPhone.
2. Clear any debris from the openings of your iPhone.

Contact Apple Support

If you still sound unclear during calls, recordings, or apps, contact Apple Support to discuss service options.

If you want to try more steps on your own

If you prefer, here are some more steps you can try on your own. You might still need to contact Apple Support after following these steps.

If people can't hear you on phone or FaceTime calls

1. Open the Voice Memos app.
2. Tap the Record button , speak at the bottom of your phone, then stop the recording.
3. When you play back the memo, you should hear your voice clearly.

If people can't hear you when you're using speakerphone

1. Open the Camera app.
2. Record a video while speaking at the top of your iPhone.
3. Tap the camera chooser  to switch to the other camera. Then record another video while speaking at the top of your iPhone.
4. When you play back the videos, you should hear your voice clearly.

If the microphone doesn't work in a specific app

1. Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone.
2. Make sure that the app is enabled.
3. If the app has permission to access your microphone, or if it isn't listed, contact the app developer.

FaceTime is not available in all countries or regions.

If that doesn't help and this only occurs in these two third-party apps, then we'd recommend taking these steps for a solution: If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open

Should the issue only occur with these two third-party apps and not on phone calls, then we'd recommend contacting the app developer for further support. Here's how you could do that: How to contact an app developer

Let us know if this helps out.

Take care.
