Cannot change/remove Notification Email in Apple ID Webpage

On https://appleid.apple.com/account/manage

I see a field called [ Notification Email ]

… this has an old email address that I can no longer access.

If I click on it I get the options to Change or Remove it…

… clicking on either of these I get the following message

Continue on one of your devices

On an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch go to Settings > Apple ID

When I do this there is not an item called Notification Email ?

… there is an item called Name, Phone Numbers, Email

… under here are my valid email address, however, the old unused one associated with “Notification Email”, as on the Website mentioned above, is not listed?

I do receive security and other emails from Apple, that seem to be the “Notifications” mentioned above, to my Apple ID email address so I don’t think this is a problem?

I’m just checking as it’s unlike Apple to have different fields on their AppleID Website as on devices?

… I did notice that an option called “Apple News newsletter” is at the end of the Name, Phone Numbers, Email and on the device could be set/unset but the same option could not be set on the AppleID Webpage, so that is another example of non matching items?

Any views?

OK, after contacting Apple Support via Messages I was given a way to change my Notification Email address, which seems to be an alternative way for Apple to contact me.

All I had to do was to log out of appleid.apple.com/account/manage and then login manually entering my email address and password, without using face or Touch ID. This then allowed the email to be changed…

I certainly didn’t try that!

Different browsers didn’t help so I tried using Apple Support but although the support webpage said I could use email, chat or phone the email option was not available to me. Using chat they read this discussion and said I should use the feedback form - Product Feedback - Apple

Unfortunately, this was for Apple hardware products and iOS Apps so doesn’t seem applicable to this issue…

the difference I see on the appleid.apple.com website is not just me, asking several contacts to check and no one now sees the [Notification Email] or [Legacy Contact] fields on this webpage as are listed on the ‘learn how to change your Apple ID email…’ webpage. I assume the [Notification Email] field is no longer used, as it’s not in the iPad/iPhone settings for AppleID - it appears now to use your AppleID email address…

… while this doesn’t seem to give me any issues, as I stated above I get notifications from Apple, the appleid.apple.com webpage seems to need updating.

Anyone know how to get this discussion to Apple Support in an email?

Hello Tad-England,

Just to confirm, it seems like you want to manage or change the email addresses associated with your Apple ID account, is that correct? If so, please check out this link, which explains the available options, and will guide you through that process: About your Apple ID email addresses

Apple ID email address

When you create an Apple ID, you enter an email address. This email address is your Apple ID and the username that you can use to sign in to Apple services like Apple Music and iCloud. It's also the contact email address for your account. Be sure to check your inbox regularly. We'll send you email notifications to help you manage your account.

Change your Apple ID email address

After you sign out of all Apple services and devices that use your Apple ID, learn how to change your Apple ID email address.

Thanks!

Thanks for your reply, however, it just seems to confirm the difference I found?

… using the link to ‘learn how to change your Apple ID email…’ we get the image below:

As you can hopefully see, the above does not have the [Notifications Email] address entry that I see when I login, as per the image below.

I can only assume that the [Notification Email] address is now always the same as the Apple ID, because if I try and edit this it just says, as I mentioned in my post, to “Continue on one of your devices”, which then has no mention of it. You can see [Legacy Contact] is also missing?

I think I’ll create an Apple Support case, as there’s obviously a mismatch in what I see, but can’t change, which is not like Apple.
