Downgrading MacBook to Catalina.

I’ve got a refurbished MacBook with SSD that I upgraded from Catalina to Big Sur and now it’s made it very slow, slow to startup can’t use Logic Pro anymore either which was the intention for buying the MacBook. I’ve looked at Firevault aswell and it says it’s still data encrypting after two weeks of updating. I tried to open Catalina which i downloaded but it says it’s an old version and can’t use it. How can I downgrade to Catalina? If I bought a USB of Catalina would that work?

Here's what you do: Create a bootable installer for macOS - Apple Support

But there's no guarantee Catalina will run any better again.

Who did you buy it from? Apple and MacSales are pretty much the only outfits that actually refurbish Macs.

I suggest you talk to the seller a for tech assistance. The problem can easily be something other than the OS version.
