with ios17 same apple id calls on all devices

Good evening, I switched to ios17 and now calls, passwords and known wi-fi networks are visible on both phones and it is not deactivated even if it is not in "mobile settings" on other devices. Compared to ios16 it is a bug, how to solve?

The solution is to STOP sharing an Apple ID. Apple simply doesn't recommend and now as you're seeing support using the same Apple ID on two iPhones.

Read this from Apple --> Make sure that each family member has a unique Apple ID - Apple Support

You can then use Family Sharing to share content, such as Apps, Photos and Storage between the two of you --> Set up Family Sharing - Apple Support

OR, accept that your phone calls and voicemail will be conjoined on both iPhones. Your choice.

but if one is a minor, it can be the parent's normal Apple ID and in any case up to ios16 it was fine

The minor should have their own ID.

Apple IDs are designed to be used by one person only. While people do fine ways to work around that, everytime there is a major update, some of those workarounds stop working.

I just called Apple Support and they were able to help us resolve the issue. My info was showing on my husband’s phone, so he had to go General, sign out of iCloud (which was showing my info) then he created a new Apple ID. After that was done he went into the Contacts app and was able to create his own contact poster. All calls and texts from his phone are now showing his info.

I sure hope that this will be resolved. Causing major issues in my home. Tried turning off family sharing and that completely screwed up the accounts I have for my kids. We have one adult account and then the kids. My wife and I now see all of each other’s phone calls. May not seem like a big deal but I use my phone for business and it buries a lot of her calls in recents. Never an issue until ios17

I wouldn't count on Apple resolving this at all. Apple has long suggested that two people should NOT share an Apple ID. So, Apple doesn't seem to think the sharing of call logs of two (or more) iPhones using the same Apple ID isn't something Apple considers broken.

Apple even has a support article about each person needing their own Apple ID --> Make sure that each family member has a unique Apple ID - Apple Support

So don't hold your breath on Apple doing anything about this.

Even minors should have their own Apple ID.

And yes, I believe this is going to be the new normal when it comes to seeing phone calls when two people share an Apple ID.

For minors, you should use Parental Controls, but they need their own Apple ID.

It's not a bug. It's because you're sharing an Apple ID, which shouldn't be done.

Do one thing. Open the Settings App. Tap your name at the top. Look for Family Sharing. Is it on? Turn it off if it's on. I read a thread yesterday where someone else noticed what you're seeing and turning off Family Sharing fixed it. You don't really need it if your both using the same Apple ID, but you should stop using the same Apple ID, just the same.

Which if you read my response to you, is EXACTLY what I recommended.

A different AppleID for each user is what Apple requires.

Note the document:

Make sure that each family member has a unique Apple ID - Apple Support

was published April 19, 2022, but it has been the way Apple IDs have worked for several years.

If you do not wish your devices to work in this way, you will either need to log the other devices out of their AppleIDs, meaning Messages and iCloud features will not work, or you will need to find a different solution.

You are correct - it hasn’t always been this way. But it is now unfortunately.

For the record I have an incessant habit to work these things out, never wanting to cave to what shouldn’t have to be done.

But this thing has broken me. I have tried turning off every single option that stops one phone potentially talking to the other to no avail. I’m nearly more angry with myself than I am with apple.

Folks. Trust me. Make a new ID account and concede it’s the only way you’ll seperate work/private completely, but still keep the other great things apple does offer.

I gave up but I won.

Or, if they insist on using the same Apple ID on multiple iPhones, accept that their phone call logs and voicemail will be accessible on every iPhone using the same Apple ID. If that isn't an issue for them, then they don't need to do anything. If it is, then it's time to assign a unique Apple ID to each iPhone. It's their choice of course.

It doesn’t sound like a bug to me - just a more complete implementation of syncing things for the same Apple ID between multiple devices.

Using one Apple ID may have happened to have worked the way you preferred it in older versions of IOS, but that was a side effect of their implementations. Not an indication that they were designed with the idea that several people would share one Apple ID, and yet keep things separate from each other.
