Where is the dock in watchOS 10?

What happened to DOCK, which gave me quick access to the 10 apps I selected and use most, in Watch OS 10? Also, how is pushing the side button easier or better than a quick swipe up to access the Control Panel?

AGREED!! Losing the dock drastically worsens my Apple Watch experience. I think the developers are out of touch with the actual users. It’s almost as if they’re now making changes just for the sake of making changes.

Also, using the crown to access my apps in list view, it always starts at the top! So if my apps are at the end of the alphabet, you have to scroll, scroll, scroll to get to them!

That’s not what they’re complaining about. We liked that we could select a small set of apps to view instead of seeing things like Stocks and App Store that never get used.

If you use the Grid view for you apps, you can arrange them so that your favorites are in the middle of the screen where you will see them first. You can also take a look at the Smart Stack. It is not exactly like the Dock. It's more like Glances, which preceeded the Dock. You may find it useful.

It's also useful to keep in mind that, just because you don't use Stock or the App Store, that doesn't mean that they aren't used by lots of other people. Not everyone has the same needs or presences that you do.

So the swipe up gives you the apps, and pushing the Crown gives you the apps. Both give you the same function?

No.

  • Swipe up gives you the widget stack.
  • Pushing the crown once gives you the apps.
  • Pushing the crown twice gives you the app switcher (analogous to the Dock on previous versions).
  • Pushing the bottom below the crown brings up the Control Center.

  1. I guess I misunderstood the old function of the side button as being the “dock” when people referred to it. My mistake. 2. No obviously you can’t but an analog watch’s inability to swipe faces doesn’t make me mad. Apple taking away that crucial function does and I don’t like getting mad. 3. I did submit to Apple Feedback. Have a pleasant day. :)
