Microphone doesn't work on iPad 10th generation

I had a similar issue. Apparently the screen protector I bought was being sold as 10th gen, but was covering the microphone. I finally got a new screen protector and it works perfectly fine now.
Might not be the answer for you, but there’s always a chance.
