Also make certain that the message is really from Apple. I've receive several from criminals posing as Apple, as evidenced by a non-Apple email address or url:
This came as a text message:
See: Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support
and: If you think your Apple ID has been compromised - Apple Support
When an Apple ID has been disabled, then access to the App Store, as needed for app updates, is also disabled until the issue is resolved.
You’ll need assistance from the Apple Support staff for this. If a message says 'Your account has been disabled in the App Store and iTunes' - Apple Support
