Blink security app - notification sound changed since IOS 17 update

I just updated my iPhone 13 to IOS 17. Since the update the Blink security app notification sound changed and now is very quiet. I went to Settings/Notifications/Blink and the only option is Sounds with an on/off button - no way to change sound or increase volume.

I notified Blink and their Customer Support said to contact Apple. I told them this is not my singular problem but is a Blink problem. No go, they keep pointing at Apple.

Looks like we have a circular firing squad...

Any help anyone could offer would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

My specific problem has been that since upgrading to IOS 17, ALL of my app notification sounds changed to a short, low volume "blip" sound, not just Blink. Today, after trying to change a few settings, all my notification sounds returned, and Blink now sounds like a more substantial "beh-roop" sound (kinda like a thick liquid drop). Not exactly sure what specifically fixed the problem, but here's what I did in case you wanted to try.

I double checked all the usual suspect Notifications and Sounds & Haptics settings to make sure they were set correctly and found nothing wrong. Then in Sounds & Haptics, I changed the ring tones for Text Tone and New Mail, and then set them back to default in order to test the ringtones and hopefully reset them. Then I went into Notifications and into the various individual apps whose notification sounds were not working correctly and changed their tones and then set them all back to default. I think the last app I changed was the Mail (Safari) app's sound under Notification, Customize Notifications, selected my mail provider's account name under Accounts, and noticed my Alerts setting was toggled off and I toggled that back on. Within a few minutes I received both an email and Blink notification that sounded normal. Again, I'm not sure what specifically fixed the problem, but in my case, it seems it may have been resetting the apps whose notifications were sounding distorted and turning on the Mail app's Alert on-off toggle that had been turned off during the IOS 17 install.

Your mileage may vary.... Good luck.

Has anyone discovered how to get a louder alert notification since the ios17 update? I have spoken with both Apple and blink and as it’s been said, the are saying it’s the other one’s problem. Apple says it’s their software and they have the right to change it at anytime. Also said Blink is a 3rd party and it’s up to them to update software on the Blink end to stay up with Apple .

I got this in an email but can’t find it in the discussion.

It’s essentially a non-answer/explanation.

“We don’t have any access” ?!? It’s your app. You should have complete access. Apple evolved. Blink did not.

Blink needs to fix this.

🤦‍♂️ (“fantastic” hours btw. I’ll be sure to set an alarm for 3am so we can chat)

I got the same email. Looks like the call back number is from England. Sure doesn't give much of a chance to get clarification.

Something has to happen to Blink. Amazon is a multi billion dollar corporation, what's the problem with spending a few bucks on a programmer to add the functionality to the Blink app? Sheesh, this is **** obvious.

I just don't understand why Blink doesn't just put their own alert sounds into their app. How hard could that be? Every game app that you download has its own sounds. They don't have to "borrow" them from Apple. I think it's just laziness on Blinks part. they should have modified the app right after this started happening. Just another billion dollar corporation who doesn't care about the little people.

It’s so frustrating I’m no longer able to hear notifications post IOS 17 update. Apple and Blink (Amazon) are both aware of this problem. But we are talking about SECURITY! At this point I will just have to take the lost and replace all 5 of my Blink cameras. As a senior citizen on a fix income I really can’t afford to do this but I will ask family members to help and make it an early Christmas present! I have and will inform everyone I know of the problems Apple & Blink are having sounds and notifications from Amazon Blink’s security.

For the discussion, I received the following email from Blink after going back and forth about what the problem is and who is responsible (wish I could rely on the "has been working on this matter" statement):

This is Miko from the blink and I apologize for the delay. We will take

your suggestions into account and hopefully, we can offer the features

in the near future. At the moment, we don't have any hold for the

update, and rest assured that our team has been working on this matter.

If you have other concerns, feel free to reach us anytime!

Best Regards,

Miko

OK, now I am really disappointed. Blink Customer Service just sent me an email telling me to use Alexa or a different phone. Seriously, guess they want me to purchase an Alexa and then dump my phone and Apple watch too. Guess I am done. If Apple isn't going to help - time to get a new system - and the heck of it is, I JUST purchased the wired floodlight camera within the last 3 months. I really liked Blink but the latest email from them turned me off. Does anyone have any recommendations for systems that this same issue won't come up with future IOS updates? TIA
