Blink security app - notification sound changed since IOS 17 update

I just updated my iPhone 13 to IOS 17. Since the update the Blink security app notification sound changed and now is very quiet. I went to Settings/Notifications/Blink and the only option is Sounds with an on/off button - no way to change sound or increase volume.

I notified Blink and their Customer Support said to contact Apple. I told them this is not my singular problem but is a Blink problem. No go, they keep pointing at Apple.

Looks like we have a circular firing squad...

Any help anyone could offer would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I've been in touch with Blink through e-mail, and they act like they don't even know what I'm talking about. There's no way they haven't had a million complaints about this. I told them to wake up their programmers and put some sounds in the app instead of depending on Apple to supply the sounds. Still waiting on an answer.

I have an older Iphone 8 and an 2017 Ipad 9.7 which are updated as can be (16.7.2). Therefore I am not sure what the 17.x.x whatever is the problem. This all started when the Blink app changed on my Ipad recently, which makes me suspect the problem is on the Amazon side. Something Amazon did in their coding screwed things up. I have 19 cameras in 3 locations and many $$$ invested...both Amazon and Apple should put their best and brightest on this asap. I'm grandfathered, but if you are paying time to yell at both ends to have this addressed. Their respective reputations and future sales are riding on this... at least for me.

From Blink, We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience the system created, and we are aware of how frustrating and disappointing this entire process has been.

Unfortunately, we don't have any access and further information about iOS features and software issues, we would suggest you call Apple support and have them , this is BS I hope everyone drops service with them

I now believe it “is” Apple’s fault, the reason Blink sound changed for the worst. Anything I had a sound notification for now has that same weak sound ever since the update.

As noted above, Blink has the option of adding whatever sound they want to their app. They have chosen not to do so. Apple can't make them do that. I have a number of apps that use their own sounds, including Ring.

After reading this entire thread, because I have the issue of not getting any blink notifications since I purchased my new Iphone 15 Plus a couple of weeks ago, and trying all the suggestions noted here, none of which worked, I found the answer on Amazon's Blink forum. I just did this, and voila, my Blink notifications are back in full force! they are not audible, but the popup notifications that I used to get before I upgraded my phone. Here is the solution that worked for me, posted on 11/7/23:

"I just got off the phone with Blink support. We discovered that you have to go into settings on the phone, go to focus, do not disturb and add Blink to the apps allowing notifications. I get sound now but it is very faint. I suppose now it is an Apple problem? I don't see any place where you can increase the volume of the notification sound."

Hope this helps someone else.

Give this a try;

go into settings

navigate to Sounds & Haptics

make sure volume is up the whole way

scroll down to Default Alerts, tap on Default Alerts

scroll down to Classic

choose any notification sound from the list

navigate back to home screen

turn phone off briefly/then back on

using the above steps, I can now actually hear my Blink notifications

Hope this helps

It is definitely an Apple problem . I be spoken with both Apple and Blink. It is the notification that Apple set to many of our different apps. This same sound we get from Blink camera alert is the same sound I get from email. There is no way to choose a different sound. I read where someone said she changed her sound in settings and hapatics but there is No way she could have. I just got off with Blink asking them could they have the Blink app allow us to choose our own sound. And of course I was referred back to Apple. This is nothing but corporate nonsense!!!

I had this problem on an iPhone 11 and an iPhone 14. Very frustrating! If you go to settings, sounds and haptics, scroll down, and you will see default alerts. Click on that and you can change your Blink notification. However, on my brothers iPhone SE, he does not have the default alert settings. I have no idea how he can change his blink notification. I hope this helps somebody because it sure helped my frustration.
